Cabello-International mindedness discussion-putting the international in IB. How do we as a school that connect to the other IB schools around make it international. We have a responsibility to T our Ss in the classroom about the world we live in-a global community. I want to present a proposal to the SGT that we all do a Internationally Minded activity-for this year, and to plant the idea for next. The activity will be offered to the staff to do and those that are ready to be a part join and by next year we will all be asked to be a part.
Cristensen-Connect it to Earthday….
Summers-Can the team that went to the IB conf let us know what it was about
Cabello-It stems from the idea that change takes place
Ehrlich-We do this, it is in our units and plans, it is about perspectives. If we plan out sometime soon a way we can say what Intl Mindedness is…
Abts-Can the staff share at the next staff meeting what IMindedness is….then as depts. We plan for next year-use the 8 areas of IB and share the whole 8 areas over the year-eg. Math is 1st…
Adding a clarifier of what we are doing and how it is I minded.
Marushige-depth is imp we need PD on this. We can share what we are doing and look for new opps to imbed it into our day. Kate and Emma came up w a curriculum on their way home on the plane-we could use it for the start of the activities. We need to take peace day up a notch and Int mindedness should be a part of that.
Ehrlich-meeting dates talk…we are moving meetings to 3rd is staff 10th staff myp 17th grade level, 24th is dept, 31st t prep 7 prep sgt 14th staff.
Donovan-We are all focusing on getting the kids to test well-end of year benchmarks.
Group discussion on testing ….6th grade will be doing sex ed /life skills at the end of the year…..
Ehrlich-I have the LPs ready so if anyone is ‘interested’ in taking it on they can. No pd needed, its all in the plan.
Marushige-I think that would should take it for a spin now so we can test it out. We are looking at perspectives, not just focusing on the poor….
Christensen-so we will offer it for those that are interested-
